Q: i have heard that crestor chlosterol medicine can cause kidey damage is that true? my doctor put me on that?
and i have nephrotic syndrome which is where i spill protein in my urine. also is there anyway that i can help my kidneys from doing that?
A: No it doesn’t. As for nephrotic syndrome, you should likely be on an ACE inhibitor such as lisinopril or an ARB such as cozaar.
Ignore the answer from “American Vet”.
The recent news was about Zetia & Vytorin, it mentioned nothing about Crestor. In fact, it it said NOTHING about statins.
It DID imply that Zetia didn’t provide any benefit in terms of morbidity & mortality.
Given the # of statin prescriptions, if they were “killers” as claimed, then people would be dropping left & right.
I’ve been on high dose statins & niacin for 7 years. No side effects, absolutely no change in my liver function tests.
Q: is the crestor medicine available from canada the same as from the usa?
A: Yes it is the same active ingredient which is rosuvastation which works to lower the abnormally high lipid profile
Q: is it true that you are not supposed to eat mints when you take cholesterol medicine like crestor?
A: my dr and pharamcy told me no grapefruit but nothing about mints, call your pharmacy
Q: I’m having bad side effects due to cholesterol medicine (Crestor 20mg), I need your help and advice?
My doctor decided to put me on Crestor 20mg because my cholesterol was very high 383, and I am not over weight at all, it’s hereditary, everyone in my family has it, and I’m 27 years old. Well anyways, I took this Crestor’s for about 2 weeks and I started to feel my 2 legs tired and weak and heaviness, and it was hard for me to climb up my stairs, than I also felt the heaviness and weakness in both arms, so I went to the doctors and he told me to stop taking the Crestor and took my blood to check for “CPK” blood test, today we got the results and my CPK test came normal and the doctor says, he does not believe that the Crestor is to blame, and maybe all I had was some kind of virual sickness, and to wait a week and it should all go away. Is this normal for the CPK to come back normal but still have the side effects from it, I know for a fact that my symptoms are from the Crestor, are there any other tests besides a CPK to get a better look into this?
I think my doctor is an idiot to think that all I had was some kind of flu! I’m afraid that this Crestor will give me permanent complications, what can I do?
A: Crestor has not gotten “good ” marks as a statin. There are other drugs available for lowering your cholesterol out there.
The FDA has reported serious muscle toxicity as well as weakness, swelling of hands and feet; diarrhea;urinating too much or not at all, or burning and pain when you urinate etc.etc etc. Hena, I would STRONGLY suggest that you get a second opinion from another Physician. ASAP.
Q: does crestor cholesterol medicine cause kidney damage or failure?

Q: If you are taking Crestor, does it lessen plaque build up or just keep you from getting new build up?
Is there such a medicine that reduces existing build up? Does diet reduce build up? Exercise?
A: No, no Statin does. All they do is help lower blood cholesterol and prevent further build up of atheroma. No medication will remove existing build up in ther arteries.
Again, eating a healthy diet (low in saturated fats) and exercise (which will raise HDL) will prevent further build up, it will have no effect of the existing build up.
There is a new therapy in the pipelines called Chelation, it basically aims to to flush out or dissolve existing build up. It’s used in the US already. There are a number of private clinics offering this therapy in the UK. Some GPs have tried to refer patients for it, but the local heath authorities usually won’t approve it.
The Department of Health’s stance is that they support the programme of UK clinical trials but want to wait for the results of the clinical trials before reaching a final conclusion with regards to safety and other long term success factors.
Q: Is Fitrum Green Tea extract safe to use by people using mecardis plus and crestor? (High blood medicines)?
A: Unlikely to get authentic reports due to lack of definite studies on interaction.
Q: Crestor and/or Propecia (Finasteride) Cause Memory Loss?
My father has recently had some minor issues with memory loss such as forgetting simple conversations, or misplacing items. More than normal, and more than enough to take notice by me, his son.
He has recently started taking (2) new medicines. Crestor for high cholesterol and Propecia or Finasteride for minor prostate problems. Is anyone currently taking these medications or previously taken these medications and had similar side effects such as memory loss, or a moment of confusion, forgetting conversations, etc?
Or does anyone in the medical field think this could be related to old age (He’s 62), or maybe something more serious such as alzheimers?
Thanks
A: More likely to be related to his age.
Q: Do you take “Crestor” How has it effected you?
I was prescribed 10mg and started taking it today… I’d like to know your experiance with this medicine…
A: I take 1 crestor a day for over 1 year now. Your doctor should
have taken tests before you started them and then a certain amount of time after you have been on them. They can effect
you or have side effects. Personally, I have had no side effects or
bad luck. They have done wonders for me as far as my cholesterol figures, which have come way down to great. I feel
fine taking these pills. I did not want to go on a pill but had to and
I am glad that I am on these instead of other brands. If you are
having a problem discuss it with your doctor so that if you need to
be taken off then do so rather then have more serious problems.
Good Luck, also get a list of what you can’t mix or eat, drink or
take within so many hours of crestor, there are some precautions.
Other people might do better on other brands, but I like this one.
Q: What is a septal infarct and what is the maximum period of getting cardiac enzymes for infarct diagnosis?
I had severe chest pain and after nearly 72 hours was taken to a doctor who did my EKG and advised to rush to hospital as either I already had a heart attack or in process of having it.
The caridiac emzymes were negative however, the EKG was abnormal, later echocardio test confirmed there was a septal infarct. Six months later I had the chest pain again and was admitted in emergency where later I had to go through catherization and was told that I had 50% plaque in one of the artry and now taking crestor, plavix, aspirin and two more medicine. Does this mean that six months ago I had a heart attack and due to non availability of any insurance plan could not have angiography or catherization?
A: septal infarct= an infarction (death of cells) in the septum that separates the 2 ventricles of the heart.
max. around 14 days, some rise within 2 hours & decrease quickly…
there are criteria for when a patient undergoes cath. (angiography can be carried out during cardiac (heart) cathertarization) depending on presentation, EKG findings. so it is not clear from what u said if u needed cathetarization on u’re 1st presentation or not..

Q: Crestor and severe muscle problems?
Just wondering if someone could share their story. I had a very terrifing experience two years ago. I woke up in the middle of the night almost completely paralized. After many doctor visits and no real answers i had one internist tell me that it was probably due to crestor. It took me 6 months to recover. I was miserable with truck and limb weakness. I had muscle atrophy, some mild pain, and very low stamina. Six months after that my other damn doctor talked me into going back on crestor. Well two after taking the medicine it all started again. I had lots of muscle and nerve problems, it took another 8 months to recover from that.
Seems like most doctors are following suit with the drug companies and refuse to believe that the miracle statin drugs are harmful.
Wonder if anyone else had similar problems with crestor or any other statin.
A: I can tell you this Drs. get kickbacks for medications and for NOT testing you for problems by insurance comp.
Q: can you drink alchohol while on cholestrol medicine?
im on 10mg crestor, can i have a couple drinks
A: In moderation, yes.
I’ve been on Zocor for years & have the occasional drink or two. My liver is as strong as it was 10 years ago.
Q: Total cholesterol levels is 247?
I am 28 years old married. I am having cholesterol levels is 247. I need to confirm this level is high or not. Then doctor advise to have medicine (Crestor) 1 in between two day. Some of my friends told me that if I take this medicine Ii need to continue i cannot stop. Is any problem or side affects having this tablet call Crestor 10 mg. If i have this tablet there is any problem in my family life.
A: Normal total cholesterol is less than 200, therefore this is elevated. The total cholesterol is not as important as the breakdown into LDL “bad” cholesterol and HDL “good” cholesterol. Elevated LDL and low HDL are known risk factors for heart disease. The total cholesterol is not as helpful, because it can be elevated due to high LDL, high HDL or high HDL/LDL. An elevated total cholesterol secondary to a high LDL is very bad and increases the risk of heart attacks and should be treated with medication to lower it. On the other hand, if your total cholesterol is high due to elevated HDL “good” cholesterol then this is actually a very good thing and is associated with a significant reduction in heart disease. So, if you could provide the values for your HDL, LDL and triglycerides, then I would be able to help you a lot more.
Crestor is a very good medication at lowering cholesterol and is generally well tolerated. It inhibits the synthesis of cholesterol in the liver. The most significant side effects include liver and muscle issues. All patients on Crestor and medications like it must have blood tests to check their liver numbers usually prior to starting, 6 weeks later and then every six months. Elevated liver tests develop in about 1% of people who take these types of medications. Crestor can also lead to muscle pain and potentially muscle damage. Muscle pain is reported in 2-11% who take these medications. More serious muscle issues occur in less than 1% of people who take it. In general these medications are well tolerated with no significant side effects.
Q: Someone knows a natural medicine for ?
Yes my son who is 40 yr s is taking Crestor to elevate his good cholesterol ; but the last blood test showed that it was attacking his muscles so he would like to know if there’s a natural product who would bring the same benefit for helping his H D L to get higher ; is there food who could help his condition Thanks [ HE doesnt have a cholesterolstorol problem ; but because his H D L is little bit to low the doctor told him ; that he had to elevate his good cholesterolstorol to control the bad one
A: There is a natural supplement called Cholesterol Regulation Complex. It helps to inhibit absorption of dietary cholesterol and increases HDL cholesterol. Unlike statin drugs this product will not destroy the production of CoQ10 a nutrient critical to heart health and has no side effects.

A: Your LDL (Bad) Cholesterol Level
The lower your LDL cholesterol, the lower your risk of heart attack and stroke. In fact, it’s a better gauge of risk than total blood cholesterol. In general, LDL levels fall into these categories:
Less than 100 mg/dL
Optimal
100 to 129 mg/dL
Near Optimal/ Above Optimal
130 to 159 mg/dL
Borderline High
160 to 189 mg/dL
High
190 mg/dL and above
Very High
Your Total Blood (or Serum) Cholesterol Level
Less than 200 mg/dL: Desirable
200–239 mg/dL: Borderline-High Risk
240 mg/dL and over: High Risk
With HDL (good) cholesterol, higher levels are better. Low HDL cholesterol (less than 40 mg/dL for men, less than 50 mg/dL for women) puts you at higher risk for heart disease. In the average man, HDL cholesterol levels range from 40 to 50 mg/dL. In the average woman, they range from 50 to 60 mg/dL. An HDL cholesterol of 60 mg/dL or higher gives some protection against heart disease.
A cholesterol count of 468 sound like the total cholesterol and not LDL.
If your test didn’t show your LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides, your doctor should order a fasting profile. Work with your doctor to create a prevention and treatment plan that’s right for you. Whether or not you need cholesterol-regulating medication, make lifestyle changes, including eating a heart-healthy diet, getting regular physical activity and avoiding tobacco smoke.
If the Crestor doesn’t work; to lower your cholesterol. Maybe you can suggest to the Dr. to let you try another drug such as Lipitor or Zocor. Zocor is very efective and has less side effects. You shouldn’t eat any grapefruits while takingatatin drugs. To increase your energy levels, you should take Vit B complex and zinc. and multiple vitamins.
Regular exercise even for 20 min would also increase your stamina level.
Smoking, being overweight and being sedentary can all result in lower HDL cholesterol. To raise your HDL level, avoid tobacco smoke, maintain a healthy weight and get at least 30–60 minutes of physical activity more days than not.
Triglyceride is a form of fat. People with high triglycerides often have a high total cholesterol level, including high LDL (bad) cholesterol and low HDL (good) cholesterol levels.
Your triglyceride level will fall into one of these categories:
Normal: less than 150 mg/dL
Borderline-High: 150–199 mg/dL
High: 200–499 mg/dL
Very High: 500 mg/dL
The main therapy to reduce triglyceride levels is to change your lifestyle. This means control your weight, eat a heart-healthy diet, get regular physical activity, avoid tobacco smoke, limit alcohol to one drink per day for women or two drinks per day for men and limit beverages and foods with added sugars. Visit your healthcare provider to create an action plan that will incorporate all these lifestyle changes. Sometimes, medication is needed in addition to a healthy diet and lifestyle.
