Q: I can’t afford to buy all my meds this month which ones should I get or skip?
prozac
ambien
spirivia
albuterol
crestor
percocet
flexril

A: Wow… you should really talk to your physician regarding this.

for example, Albuterol (for your asthma).. going to need it or you can die.

Ambien — for sleep (can you sleep without it)
Flexeril — muscle relaxant
Proac– for depression (probably need it right)

I would not feel right telling you which one to not take, but you can post here on my forum:

and i can give you details on each one in private.

Q: Is policosanol good to lower bad cholestrol?
im taking some pills i bought, its been about a week i got my next cholestrol check in about 5 months..im also on crestor 10mg

A: Policosanol or polycosanol
as it’s also known as, is a product derived from both sugar cane and rice bran. Numerous studies have been conducted confirming that it actually lowers bad cholesterol (LDL) while also raising good cholesterol (HDL). It is also much safer than statin drugs as statin drugs actually strip the body of the vital COQ10 compound essential to so many metabolic processes — this is important to know.

Q: Doctor said I have high cholesterol?
He gave me Crestor and I finished it but I wasn’t really eating healthy while I was on it can someone give a specific list of food I should buy that healthy in detail please I don’t know anything the doctor I went to didn’t tell me nothing he just said u have high cholesterol I was too shocked to ask him anything cuz I’m only 19 I didn’t think I’ll have that
Im 19 years old 130 lbs 5′9 or maybe 5′10
I don’t wanna lose weight I wanna gain at least 20 lbs and I do use drugs only weed and Xanax from time to time will that effect my cholesterol

A: It’s caused from eating junk food, fast food garbage & sugary sweet soda’s most of your life. Start reading labels on everything you buy to put in your mouth. On the back or bottom of each package, check out how much cholesterol content, if any, is in the item.

No smoking – no chewing – no dipping – no beer/ale – no booze – no drugs of any kind – no junk food – no fast food garbage & no sugary sweet soda’s.
Get on a good, healthy, balanced diet including plenty of boiled or steamed vegetables. Drink lots of water, fruit juices & fat free milk to help keep the traffic flowing. Snack on plenty of RAW fruit & veggies. Make sure you eat a good breakfast daily. You get your energy for the day from your breakfast meal. Get up one hour early every morning & take a BRISK 30 minute walk – then – do the same thing again in the evening after dinner. Start doing push ups, sit ups, pull ups & skipping rope. Get 8 hours sleep each nite. Avoid stress at school, work & at home.

Q: A question about cholesterol level changes?
On Feb 13th, 2009 my levels were as follows: Cholesterol 163, Trig 43, HDL 46, VLDL 9, LDL 108. I was between 170 and 175 lbs, exercised daily, and was 35 years old. I am a male.

Just over a year later, on March 13, 2010 my levels were, seemingly, through the roof: Chol 232, Trig 86, HDL 58, VLDL 17, LDL 157. I weighed 192.

This seems a staggering jump. During the past year enormous stress had ensued. My power was shut off for 2 1/2 months, then I was caught driving uninsured and couldn’t drive for 6 months. I have been unemployed the entire time, and my motivation to exercise has suffered. This is stress I never encountered before.

Can the overwhelming stress have caused this gigantic jump? Did the addition of about 20lbs cause it? I guess I never realized that a jump from 163 to 232 could happen in 13 months. There are 2 other things I should mention. Having little money, I bought hens and relied heavily on eggs for food over the past year. Sometimes I’d eat 3 to 6 at a time. I was also not told to fast very long before my test the second time, just not to eat after 5 AM and my blood work was drawn around 10AM. I have heard eggs are high in cholesterol, and I also read that most people are told to fast 12 or more hours before a cholesterol test. That day I was also scheduled for a CT scan of my abdomen because I had pain for months on my left lower side so I had drank 2 of these barium concoctions. They really didn’t find anything except a small hernia and parapelvic cysts. I guess that’s the possible relevant information (oh I’m 6 feet tall).

Should I be horrified at the fast jump in numbers? I stopped eating eggs COMPLETELY when I got my results. They want me on Crestor, but I am waiting for my next test in July to see if numbers go down without it. I have run 1.5 miles about every day since my results and lift 3 days a week.

Feel free to offer up any possible theories, I’ve read articles online so much that it becomes a blur after a while.

Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to reply if you elect to do so.

A: First of all, eating eggs does not raise your overall cholesterol much necessarily. It does raise your Low Density Lipids though. And it’s best to stick to the recommended serving a day – no more than 2 eggs.

I wouldn’t recommend eating that many eggs anyway because it is a lot of protein, which must have made you very bloated and gassy.

When researching medical and health information on the Internet you will notice that alot of it is crap. To be sure that you are accessing up to date, accurate health and medical information on the Internet that is written by real doctors, pharmacists, nurses and other medical personnel, use the search engine I have provided below.

Simple changes to ones diet can help to lower cholesterol levels. Avoid animal fats found in meats and dairy products. That is eat lean beef only. Reduce consumption of hard cheeses. Eat more fish meals that are high in Omega 3 oils – mackerel, salmon, herring, tuna etc. Use olive oil in cooking, not animal fats. Almonds, walnuts and brazil nuts also have Omega 3 oils. Having oat porridge for breakfast helps to lower cholesterol as well.

Stress ? Yes stress can affect ones health alot.

Q: Daughter Not Feeling Well…?
My youngest child came to me tonight and told me she wasn’t feeling well. She was in tears and told me that her hands and feet were numb. She is only 5 years old, so I’m sure she was scared. I tried rubbing them, but she hasn’t regained feeling in her hands or feet. I can’t figure out what is wrong with her. The only thing I know is that she ate a lot of sugar-free kid’s juice that I bought. She hated the taste so I put Equal in it.

I put her in my bed with a cool cloth on her head and told her to just rest. She was laying there for about an hour before she told me she felt “very weak.” This scared me, but I didn’t show it. She asked me if she could have something to eat, I guess she thought it would make her feel better. I told her she couldn’t have anything to eat (thinking that maybe she ate something that has made her feel bad).

Thirty minutes after that she started crying for me (I was in the other room putting our other kids to bed) so I went running to her. Her lymph nodes were like 10x their normal size and she said she was having trouble breathing. Okay, so now I’m really worried and considering going to the hospital. She again asked me for something to eat, so I brought her some mashed potatoes with a little butter and salt on them.

About 15 minutes ago she started kicking the covers off and complaining that she couldn’t get comfortable and when I went over to help her she actually slapped at me and started crying! This is very much unlike her. She is usually just a little tuff tom boy and nothing really gets to her. So, I need to know what to do. Should we take her to the hospital? Wait till morning? I need help!

PS ~ She is on Crestor to lower cholesterol. We adopted her about 6 months ago and her foster parents fed her nothing but hamburgers and chicken nuggets. Her last checkup her cholesterol was 240 mg/dL. She has only been on this medicine for 6 days.
Sodium has no impact on cholesterol. The butter is all-natural dairy free made from plant sterols and it actually says on the jar that it helps lower cholesterol. My husband has taken her to the hospital. I wanted to go, but my husband and I decided it would be better for me to stay home with the other children. He is better in emergency situations anyway. I’m too high strung.

A: Take her to the ER, it’s not worth it to wait, you don’t know what is happening and these symptoms sound very abnormal. Don’t make a fatal mistake – take her now. Better to be overprotective and act on the conservative side vs. dealing with a serious regret later.
